Zemljopisni položaj:
Hrvatska se prostire od krajnih istočnih rubova Alpi na sjeverozapadu do Panonske nizine i obala Dunava na istoku, središnji joj dio pokriva planinski masiv Dinare, a južni joj dio završava na obali Jadranskog mora.

Površina:

Kopneni dio iznosi 56.542 km2, a površina teritorijalnog mora 31.067 km2.

Napučenost:
4.437.460 stanovnika; nacionalni sastav: većina stanovništva su Hrvati; nacionalne manjine su Srbi, Slovenci, Mađari, Bošnjaci, Talijani, Česi i ostali.

Državno uređenje:
Hrvatska je višestranačka parlamentarna republika.

Glavni grad: Zagreb
(779.145 st.) gospodarsko, prometno, kulturno i akademsko središte zemlje.

5835 km, od toga 4058 km obale otoka, hridi i grebena.

Klima:

U Hrvatskoj postoje dvije klimatske zone; u unutrašnjosti prevladava umjerena kontinentalna klima, djelomice i planinska, dok područjem uzduž jadranske obale vlada ugodna mediteranska klima s mnogo sunčanih dana; suha i vruća ljeta, blage i vlažne zime; prosječna temperatura u unutrašnjosti: siječanj 0 do 2°C, kolovoz 19 do 23°C; prosječna temperatura u primorju: siječanj 6 do 11°C, kolovoz 21 do 27°C; temperatura mora zimi je 12°C, a ljeti oko 25°C.

Climate:

There are two climate zones; a temperate continental climate, locally also a mountainous climate, prevails in the interior, whereas a pleasant Mediterranean climate prevails along the Adriatic coast, with an overwhelming number of sunny days, dry and hot summers, mild and humid winters; average temperature in the inland: January 0 to 2°C, August 19 to 23°C; average temperature at the seaside: January 6 to 11°C, August 21 to 27 °C; the temperature is about 12°C in winter, and 25°C in summer.

Currency:

kuna (1 kuna = 100 lipa). Foreign currency can be exchanged in banks, exchange offices, post offices, travel agencies, hotels, camps, marinas; cheques can be cashed in banks.
